You are safe. You are powerful. And yes—you’re meant to be seen.
If you’ve ever felt nervous to call yourself a witch…
If you’ve held back from sharing your spiritual practice…
If part of you wants to hide, just in case…
You’re not alone. And you’re not imagining it.
That quiet fear has a name. It’s called the Witch Wound.
What Is the Witch Wound?
It’s that uneasy feeling when you talk about magic or intuition. The hesitation when someone asks what you believe in. The fear of being judged—or misunderstood—for who you truly are.
The Witch Wound is a deep, collective fear carried by many witches, healers, intuitive, and sensitive souls.
It’s the part of us that says: “Stay quiet.” “Don’t stand out.” “It’s not safe.”
But here’s the thing: That fear didn’t start with you.
Where Does It Come From?
For centuries, people—especially women and gender-diverse folks—were punished for connecting with the earth, working with herbs, trusting their inner wisdom, or simply being different.
They were called witches. They were shamed, silenced, or worse.
That history left a scar. Even now, when it’s “safer,” we still feel it in our bodies and our bones.
That fear gets passed down. It shows up as self-doubt. Shrinking. Staying small.
And it can feel like it’s yours—but it’s older than you. You’re just the one ready to heal it.
Healing the Witch Wound (In Gentle Steps)
You don’t need to “fix” yourself. There’s nothing wrong with you. This is about remembering who you are—and letting that be okay. Here are a few ways to begin:
1. Name the Wound
Just knowing the Witch Wound exists can be a relief. You’re not making it up. You’re responding to something real, deep, and ancestral. Read about the history. Learn about the silencing of spiritual women and intuitive folks. Let that knowledge lift the shame.
2. Reconnect with Your Power
You don’t have to be loud. You don’t have to prove anything. But you do get to be whole.
Try:
- Lighting a candle and saying: I am safe to be seen.
- Journaling: What part of me have I been hiding?
- Saying kind things to yourself, like: My voice matters. My magic is sacred. It’s safe to be myself.
You can also explore shadow work—gently getting to know the parts of you that feel afraid of being powerful. Offer them compassion. They’re just trying to protect you.
3. Find Your People
Healing is easier when you feel safe. Whether it’s a trusted friend, a coven, or an online group—look for spaces where you can show up as your full self.
I’m part of the Lunar & Wild Coven, an online sisterhood where everyone is welcome to grow at their own pace. It’s soft, supportive, and filled with kind souls. I don’t feel so alone there—and that’s made a big difference.
4. Call on Your Ancestors
You are not the first to walk this path. You carry the strength of those who came before you.
Try:
- Lighting a candle in their honour
- Meditating and asking for their guidance
- Writing a letter to the ones who were silenced—and promising to use your voice now
You are the healing they dreamed of.
5. Shine in Your Own Way
You don’t have to go “all in” overnight. Start where you are.
- Share a piece of your practice with someone safe
- Create art, write, or move your body in ways that feel like truth
- Wear a symbol that reminds you of your magic
- Speak your truth—even if your voice shakes
Every small act of courage heals something old.
Gentle Rituals to Support Your Healing
- Candle Ritual: Light a black or purple candle. Sit in stillness and say: “The fear is old. But I am new. It’s safe to be seen.”
- Full Moon Release: Write down your fears—like “They won’t understand me.” Burn the paper (safely) and say: “I let this go. I choose my truth.”
- Ancestral Bath: Use herbs like lavender, rosemary, or Mugwort. Soak slowly and imagine fear lifting from your body like mist.
- Create a Sigil: Draw a symbol that means something like: “I am safe. I am seen. I am sovereign.” Wear it, carry it, or keep it on your altar.
Remember This
You’re not too much.
You’re not making it up.
You’re not alone.
The Witch Wound runs deep—but your power runs deeper.
Every time you honour your magic, you’re healing yourself— And honouring all those who couldn’t. This is brave work. Sacred work. And you’re already doing it. It’s safe to shine now. It’s your time.
